“I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles.” –Zig Ziglar
Choose the key areas of your life and then ask yourself questions to help you decide what you want to achieve in each of these areas. Pretend that you’re a life coach interviewing a client trying to help them define their ideal life. For example, the areas you choose and the questions you ask could be the following:
1. Finances: What would you like your net worth to be? When would you like to retire? How much money do you need to support your life goals? What investments would you like to make? Are you going to create multiple streams of income? If so, how? Are you going to create passive income? If so, how? Are you going to invest in stocks and/or bonds? Are you going to invest in real estate? Are you going to hire a financial planner?

Now that I’ve learned to look at things with the lens of simplicity, I can see others making mistakes I’ve made in the past.
I want to gently say to them — and to my past self — “Stop making things so complicated!”
I’m not going to criticize how other people do things in this post, but rather talk about things I did wrong in the past.
The biggest problem came when starting a new endeavor — starting running, trying to get organized or productive, starting blogging, getting out of debt, even the act of simplifying.

It’s hard, from within the storm of every day life, to see things with real perspective, to know what’s important and what’s simply pressing on our consciousness right now, demanding attention.

Self doubt has been something I’ve struggled with all my life, from debating whether I could get into a top tier university to believing I could succeed as a writer. It’s a very human emotion, and it’s made worse for some people because of life experiences or temperament. Self doubt also makes you feel alone. Sometimes you think you’re the only person in the universe who suffers from a crisis of confidence, and you wish that you could be more like your successful, self-assured neighbor. Well, I guarantee that your neighbor doubts himself every now and then too.
You won’t ever be able to rid yourself of doubt entirely – believe me, I’ve tried. But I hope that these suggestions will lessen your pain when dark thoughts are all around you.

Why is it so difficult to ship?
Ship as in get it out the door. Ship as in make a difference at work. Ship as in contribute your art and vision and expertise and passion to the project you’re working on.
Regular readers of this blog have seen first hand what happens when you force the distractions out of your life and focus on what needs to be completed instead. What he has taught us is that when you focus your efforts and energies on things that matter and cut out the stalling and distractions, amazing things happen. It’s absolutely astonishing how much we can accomplish (and insanely disappointing how few people do).
What separates the few who ship from the masses who stumble, stall and ultimately surrender?

Most people who make New Year’s resolutions tend to emphasize their health – whether physical or mental. Some accomplish this through improved diet and exercise habits, others aim to go back to school or finding cheaper, more self-directed routes towards education and self-improvement. In order to cut back on stress and nurture healthy, positive habits, there are easily thousands of different, highly specific, and small goals to consider. Many of these may seem small, but making them a regular part of life eventually builds up to something greater.
1. Take a regularly-scheduled walk.Walking keeps a body healthy without putting as much stress on joints and the heart as running.
